What is the main
piece of gear you use and why ? Usually I use Reason and also sometimes a midi keyboard. In my mini-studio I also carry Event monitors, dynamic AKG, condenser octave and a surely decent display of instruments ;) "Sample based" beats vs. "played from scratch" beats ... where do you stand ? Honestly either of the two options doesn't totally appeal to me... I'm happiest with pieces in which I used relatively little samples. I try to take advantage of live sounds from real instruments which I either extract or ask my acquaintances to do that for me. Why do you think yours was the 2nd winning beat of BB002? I don't think in those terms. I thought my beat was original- that's all that I can say for sure. Original because as far as Hip Hop production battles go I don't associate with the usual trends. I believe that every type of music can pose a challenge, but I don't necessarily focus on Hip Hop on a daily basis. I'm a person who's deeply rooted in live Jazz. That's the type of music I listen to on ongoing basis and also play drums everyday (in this style). In terms of production I prefer types dealing with jazz in the likes of nu-jazz, acid jazz and lounge. Whose beat
of BB002 would you see win the contest? What were your top 3 picks? When did your
production start to happen ?
