First of all " Who is Dasees" ?

Let's start off with how to pronounce it. Most people I know say it all wierd but really, it's just "disease" spelled odd. Now to the real stuff, I'm 14 years old (gonna be 15 on the 21st), I was born in Manhattan, New York currently living in Hendersonville, North Carolina. I'm just trying to make the best of what I can out here. Haven't done anything in particular to doing someone's whole album or somethin but i have worked with a couple people(lil nox, dawk, prottojay, mike nificent, mic assault, blaze atlanta, Thugs on point...) if any of those names hit you.

What is the main piece of gear you use and why ?

The Main piece of my gear is my Evolution MK-225C midi keyboard because right now, that's the only way I can use Reason 3. It's only got 25 keys but whatever, I make the best with it.

"Sample based" beats vs. "played from scratch" beats ... where do you stand ?

Really, I stand in the middle cause I do both. It's great to sample here and there but then when you can't find nothing, you gotta be able to do something with your time.

Why do you think yours was the top winning beat of BB005?

I think it's because my drums were strong, the whole track wasn't just the same sequence... it switched up here and there. Not a lot of effects on it and that's what hits.. It's not a "oh, where did that sound come from" or a "that doesn't fit there" it was just right on.

Whose beat of BB005 would you see win the contest? What were your top 3 picks?

I would see Conman's beat win, I liked it a lot because of it's heavy drums and that he didn't just stick to 1 loop for the sample like i heard in a lot of the beats. Next I would see Elfer, very strong bass and the drums were simple... not goin crazy trying to fill spots up. Then there's Endrjuss, full of potential but there's somethin in it that just gets hits me in the wrong spot, i don't know what it is but it's something.

How much time do you spend on your music, how many beats per week/day do you make ?

Wow, before I only spent maybe 20 minutes a day starting a beat, then not finishing it. But now that I know what I'm doing, it takes me maybe 1 hour to make a beat. I guess I make maybe... 4 a week.

When did your production start to happen ?

Well back in 5th grade, we got a new student in the class... we would hang out and i found out he could rap. So I said "yo, teach me how to do that" so we started having sessions. He told me to listen to the lyrics and their structure, flow, word play. As i was listening to the lyrics, i would notice how the instrumental would break and the emcee would spit something dope in the silence, then it would kick back into the music. I was thinking "why is it like that, is it there for a purpose?" So I started focusing more on the beat, than on the emcee. Got my first program Fl studio which never fit me so i went searching around. Found Reason 3, and i started goin on forums, asking questions like "how would you get this particular sound to thump" or something about effects and it all was getting clear. I'm not gonna front, i still have a lot to learn.

What are you working on presently ?
I'm not working on anything right now. I was recently working to do this whole dudes mixtape but then his computer got fried and he lost everything.

What is more important : diggin skills or the chopping skills?

I think chopping skills are more important. If you can find a good song, chop it right and flip it... the digging skills comes along with the choppin skills because first, you gotta find the right track (diggin), then you gotta get a particular loop (choppin), then get the chops for it (choppin), then flip it (choppin). So pretty much like i said, Digging comes along with Chopping.
