Sixteen Pads Beat Battle ends today.
The last night listening party at the studio was tough on us again..trying to conclude what should the top 10 picks be and making sure that all aspects of “what makes a good bit theory” were taken into consideration.
This top 10 selection shows what we felt were the strongest beats among the entries.
Some of you may feel different about these picks, and that is alright. We all hear and respond to sound differently, however having spent 4 hours listening to your productions we have decided on the following 10..here we go !!

This beat doesn’t feel like it is a lucky catch. FS_Green sounds on point throughout the entire beat. Superb mix, ill drums, little drum-rolls here and there, tiny small details all over the place. This man did not start making beats last week. We’ll tell you that.
It is heavy, gentle, melodic and modest. All in one.
Sounds like Hi-Tek and Dre on a rampage…definitive number 1.

Raw and classy as usual. A bit too bom-bapish for our tastes, also slightly over crowded. Nevertheless as always it stands out from the rest.

Nicely used phazer effect..Some drum transitions are a bit too clumsy.

It is hard to dislike this beat, but it is even harder to love it. It is kind of pale. What we liked was the layering, how the horns come and go and the overall balance of things.
